I decided to take a break from the action scene stuff and do something lighter and quicker. I feel like this sort of stuff is more my forte, although even with this sort of material I sometimes end up getting stuck on a particular angle of a character’s face; like the up-shot of Scout’s face for example, or the sort of down angle on Kyisha, I always get tripped up with eyes at that angle.
Sometimes I feel like I’ve gotten worse as an artist over the years, like my anatomy is certainly better and I’ve gotten better at action and composition, but then some things trip me up way more than they used to, like eyes and hands which I never remember having problems with. Maybe I just didn’t know any better in my earlier years so I’d just do some crappy hands/eyes and move on, but now I know more and it makes me more aware of my artistic shortcomings. Who knows!
ANYWAY
It's only because you're an artist you feel that way. As a fan, I just see you getting better and better.
It's been my experience that the more you know about comics, the harder it gets. You remain an amazing artist. I think knowing more just makes us pickier. It's a trick of the mind. The inner critic.
Your work is amazing, and you have all the tools you need to create great comics. You're doing a great job!
