Shadoweyes outfits
Here are some outfit sheets I did years ago back when I first started working on Shadoweyes For Good. Scout herself doesn’t have an outfit sheet because in the first few drafts she never returned to human form, which is something I’ve since scrapped so I should probably do an outfit sheet for her now. I’ve been chipping away at this book for years so there have been a ton of various drafts and versions of the script, it was a mess for a while.
Kyisha:
Other than these just being fun to do, the main reason I do outfit sketches like this is because when I’m working on a comic and I get to a page where a character is wearing something new, it tends to grind me to a halt while I try to come up with an outfit on the fly. I’ll fall down a rabbit hole of google image searching and doodling various outfit ideas right on the page until the next thing I know, I’ve wasted 5 hours, haha. So sketches like these really help me keep whatever groove I’m in while I’m drawing, and even if I don’t end up using the exact outfits I’ve sketched out beforehand, they’re enough to use as a springboard so I can keep moving. In my other comic Wet Moon which has a much larger cast, during the scripting stage I would even number each outfit and put the number at the top of each page like a reference code that I could consult at a later date when I’m actually working on that page/scene, so I wouldn’t even have to spend any time thinking about it. Super helpful.
Noah:
Noah originally had a different role in the new book but I ended up going a different route with him, so most of these outfits probably won’t end up being used. I still like them but not sure what the hell I was thinking with the outfit in the lower left, though, haha. Yuck!
Sparkle:
Sparkle’s role also changed a lot between the early drafts and the final one so I don’t know if most of these outfits will be appropriate to what ends up happening with her.
I still need to do some outfit sketches for Max, Scout’s mom!!
