Hard things to draw:
1. Hand holding a phone
2. Kyisha’s face in uncommon angles
3. Hugging
It’s difficult drawing whenever characters are touching each other in any way, you have to figure out how their bodies and limbs interact, how they push against each other, how one character’s limbs accommodate the other character’s limbs, etc.
It’s really easy to fuck it up even with photo reference, and you have to “draw through” as much as possible (drawing through meaning drawing the parts of a shape/figure that are hidden by another shape/figure, even though the entire thing won’t be in the final drawing) so you don’t end up with some weird disembodied hand or a limb that’s way too long, etc. Sometimes I feel compelled to take shortcuts and not do it, especially in close-ups, but I try to make myself do it. On this page for example, I cheated on Scout’s hand, but I sketched out the rest of Max’s body/shoulders/arms even though it’s not visible outside of the panel.
Well done. Drawing through is always tricky. I sometimes forget which line goes to what figure. It can get a bit messy. Lol
looking good!
and poor scout, all those fucking experiments...
